Gary Nease
Gary Nease has been a fixture in the Olean radio scene for years…in fact, he starts his 50th year “On the Air” later this year! A Cuba native, Gary started his career with WMNS in 1974, after graduating from Herkimer County Community College. Gary was there in 1979 when the owners started a new FM station that played Country music during the day, and Classic Rock at night. That station morphed into WMXO in the mid-1980s. Fast Forward 35 years, and Gary is still doing the Country/Rock thing…you can catch him on weekday mornings on WPIG’s “Morning Pigpen”, and middays on the GOAT’s “Workday Herd”! A self-described sports nut, he began his sports play-by-play career in the late ’70s, broadcasting local high school football, baseball, and basketball games…he’s even done play-by-play for bowling! Gary has also been the “Voice” of St. Bonaventure Basketball for the past 28 seasons. Gary and his wife Brenda are the proud parents of a son, Bruce, a daughter, Billie Jo, two grandchildren, Zane and Silas, and one great-grandchild, Grady!
